Je to největší motoristická organizace v Evropě a po americké AAA druhá největší na světě. Jeho původní a nejznámější služba je pomoc při nehodách, jeho posláním je pak chránit zájmy motoristů a podporovat motoristický sport. Pravidelně provádí důkladné, nezávislé testování produktů pro motoristy, mezi něž patří také dětské autosedačky. 

Testují jejich bezpečnost z několika úhlů pohledu. Kromě bezpečnosti při nárazu, také například nezávadnost materiálů.
